About me

About me

I was born, raised and educated in East Anglia, UK before attending the University of Edinburgh where I studied for an M.A in History.

Additional studies there included psychology, a field in which I have always maintained an interest and German. After much travel in Asia, the USA, central and south America (where I first became acquainted with the Spanish language as well as Portuguese) I settled down to live in Spain, first in Barcelona and then in Ibiza.

In 1997 I took the Diploma in Spanish Language (Superior Level) at the Palma Mallorca branch of the Official School of Languages after some months of intensive self-study. I began to study translation in 2003 and commenced working in the field in 2006. In my time in Spain I have also worked in these fields: TEFL, real estate, complementary medicine and the local English language press. At present, I write articles for the magazine Ibiza Style as well as keep a blog: www.1st-ibiza-blog.co.uk

My interests and hobbies include; reading non-fiction works such as history books and essays, listening to the radio on internet, writing features and blogs, swimming in the Mediterranean and swimming pools, practising yoga and body rolling, playing tennis, mountain biking and travelling.

I am a member of MET (Mediterranean Editors and Translators)
